Volkswagen T1 Panel From 1962
* Rare appearance
* Powerful and smooth 1600 boxer engine AF code
* 17" LM 'Hasitall' wheels
* Leatherette interior with 2-seater co-driver's bench
This stylish Volkswagen T1 was originally sold new in Mexico USA in 1962. This Panel Van was repainted in the past and provided with a beautiful blue-white color combination.
The boxer engine is coupled to a manual gearbox. Additional equipment includes wide two-tone 17" Hasitall alloy wheels, chrome headlight grilles, exterior mirrors and a special exhaust system.
The T1 bus was conceived by Ben Pon, the Dutch Volkswagen importer. In the Volkswagen factory in Wolfsburg, Pon saw a transport cart for parts, powered by the engine of a Beetle. The so-called 'plattenwagen' could not be used on public roads, because the driver sat at the back of the vehicle, above the engine. Pon saw a great opportunity for the European market, where he said there was a demand for such a vehicle. He made a rough sketch of the T1 in his diary. It became a bus with round shapes, the engine in the back and the steering wheel in the front. Based on his sketch, Volkswagen designed the Transporter between 1947 and 1949, and showed four prototypes to the public.
The counter instruments on the dashboard include a speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 88,619 miles
This VW T1 is equipped with a more powerful 1600 cc, pleasantly running petrol engine.
Unique opportunity to acquire and drive this rare T1. The car was part of a Volkswagen collection and still bears its American title. Before you can start big adventures with this T1, the car needs some technical love. For example, the brakes must be checked.
In addition, it is possible to adjust the VW to your own taste, but the current appearance certainly has its charm.
Given the current supply and market developments of T1s, this is a rare opportunity.
