The NSU Prinz is a sedan version of a small passenger car from the German car brand NSU. The car was unveiled at the 1957 Frankfurt Motor Show. This was NSU's first post-war car.
Production of the Prinz I began in 1958. The car was equipped with a 583 cm³ twin-cylinder air-cooled Heck engine that produced 20 hp and could reach a top speed of 105 km/h. Engine power is sent to the rear axle via an unsynchronized four-speed manual transmission. Available as a two-door sedan, the Prinz I featured unibody construction, a straight roofline and four seats. The Prinz II has been available simultaneously since 1959. This new model is identical to the Prinz I in body and power, but with better equipment.
The Prinz II had a fully synchronized transmission and an artificial leather interior with a better dashboard, storage compartments in the doors and an ashtray.
In 1960, the Prinz I was discontinued and the Prinz II was replaced by the Prinz III. The bodywork remained the same, but the engine now produced 23 horsepower and could reach a top speed of 111 mph. The suspension was improved and the front turn signals were now standard under the headlights.
In September 1961, Prinz 4 succeeded the original NSU Prinz. The chassis and transmission were from the Prinz III, but the bodywork was based on a Chevrolet Corvair design and was much larger than its predecessor. The Prinz 4 was equipped with a 598 cm³ two-cylinder air-cooled 30-horsepower heck engine. This resulted in a top speed of 116 km/h.
This is a beautiful and very original example. An NSU Prinz 4L from 1970 to be exact. It is an original NL car with only 3 owners in its history. It is in sublime condition. The beautiful and largely original 'Polarblau' paint makes a great combination together with the untouched brown interior. The white headliner is also undamaged and original. This classic car has never been welded which makes it even more original. Looking at the originality, number of owners and the untouched condition, it is clear that the odometer reading of 50,934 is the original mileage. The underside is completely hard and therefore rust free. There is a period-correct Philips radio present that produces a nice sound. Of this, there is a manual available.
In terms of documentation, there are several booklets and manuals present.
A very original NSU in extremely sublime condition.
