The origins of this Mercedes-Benz W116 go back to its delivery by Daimler-Benz-A.G. in Antwerp, on 14 March 1978. Until 2011, the car was owned by the same owner. The car was then imported to the Netherlands, after which we were allowed to sell the Mercedes in 2021 to its current owner: a Mercedes enthusiast. This says something about this car: it is a beautifully preserved example that excels in originality. The car is rust-free and in very nice condition. The paintwork is free of scratches and dents. The original wheels in colour of the paintwork are distinctive. In the interior, you imagine yourself in luxury and comfort: the robust and in new condition seats spring wonderfully soft and from here you can enjoy the beautiful interior details, such as inlaid wood. There is plenty of space and luxury in the rear too. How could it be otherwise: the S-Class is Mercedes' top model. The interior is also well-preserved and smoke-free. The robust 2.8-litre 6-cylinder engine is mated to a 3-speed automatic gearbox. Standard equipment included a windscreen made of laminated glass, interior-adjustable exterior mirrors, height-adjustable driver's seat, a rear armrest and power steering. In short: a stately and comfortable limousine sedan that excels in originality and is an addition to any collection or collection. Mercedes' slogan comes into its own here: “Das Beste oder Nichts”.
General information about the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W116
The S-Class is Mercedes-Benz's flagship model and has long been known for its technical and safety innovations and exceptional comfort that few other brands can match. Built from 1972 to 1980, the W116 generation excelled in configuration: more than 1,000 combinations were possible in specification, colour, trim and equipment. In no other car were so many combinations possible. The design is relatively long, wide and low with lots of chrome details. W116 was the first car in the world available with ABS (from 1978) and was the only Mercedes to be named ‘Car of the Year’ in 1974. According to the jury, the car possessed ‘excellent and balanced qualities of safety, driving comfort and performance’.
