The Jaguar XK140, successor to the XK120, was introduced in 1954 and sold from '55 to '57. Where the emphasis in the construction of the XK120 was on speed, the XK 140 was built on ease of driving and comfort. This is partly due to the more modern shock absorbers. Because the engine in the XK140 is placed about 10 centimeters forward, the legroom has been increased and the XK140 is more suitable for taller people.
With the transition from the XK120 to the XK140, the characteristic lines have been preserved. Jaguar built the XK140 as
* Roadster (OTS, Open Two-Seater where the soft-top folds away behind the seats and the windscreen can be disassembled)
* Convertible (DHC, Drop Head Coupe, the soft-top is visible when folded down and the space behind the front seats is preserved)
* Coupe (FHC, Fixed Head Coupe)
This very chic Jaguar XK140 SE DHC was produced on February 8, 1956 and delivered new by Jaguar Cars New York to the first American owner. This is one of the 2,310 original left-hand drive (LHD) units.
The XK offered by us was imported from America to Italy in 1995 and fully restored. Since 2011, this Jaguar has been registered by the current owner in the Netherlands. He had the car very well maintained by Jaguar specialists.
The Jaguar comes with a folder with many documents. This includes the original American title, which is a nice addition to the history. In addition to the 'Jaguar Heritage Certificate', there is also a 'ASI certificate' and valuation report.
Very nice color combination of 'Maroon' with a 'Tan' leather interior and beige carpet soft-top and 'hood-cover'.
After the top restoration in 1995, it goes without saying that the paint and bodywork are in great condition. The fits of the sills, fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid and grille are perfect.
Since the restoration, the car has been carefully maintained. This is substantiated by the stack of workshop invoices of more than € 28,000. The car has recently (at 19,526 mls) had major maintenance. This included replacing the timing chains and chain tensioners.
This magnificent XK 140 is in very good condition and the car drives perfectly! The Jaguar shows as a picture and the engine compartment is very well cared for.
The car is equipped with chrome wire wheels, chrome wheel nuts, aluminum radiator, electric cooling fan, aluminum expansion tank, overdrive, electronic ignition, power steering (EZ), two exterior mirrors and a stainless steel exhaust.
This DHC has a convertible top that can be easily set up, curved windscreen and hinged side windows. This great 'Drophead coupe' is ready to enjoy.
If you as a Jaguar enthusiast are looking for a beautiful and great driving XK140 DHC, now is the time to enjoy this convertible.
