Very unique car, of which only a few copies can be found worldwide. Great condition. Originally introduced to the general public in 1931 at the Olympia Motor Show, the SS1 (Swallow Sidecar) was designed by Sir William Lyons. During the war this beauty had been very well hidden, but is now exhibited in its former glory again and for sale at Carrosso. In total, 1,145 SS1 were built in all variants.

Our SS1 was delivered new in Barcelona. The car was shipped to Spain, as was customary at the time, with only this chassis, engine and complete drivetrain, grille and fenders. A coachbuilder in Barcelona built the open-top four-seater tourer body. Many of the SS were used in competitions in which one was sometimes killed. It is very special that this SS1 has been preserved in such a good condition.

To avoid having their cars impounded, many owners hid their cars during the Spanish Civil War and had the papers invalidated. This is what happened with this car. Once the civil war was over, this SS1 was re-registered in 1942, provided with a new chassis number and registration papers.

The body is painted in Apple Green, an original SS1 color. It's hard to capture in the photo, but it really pops in real life. The fenders and running boards have a beautiful contrasting dark green, racing green, lacquer layer. This makes the lines of the SS1 stand out better.

The interior is reupholstered with dark green leather as well as the dashboard and the tonneau cover.
