The Jaguar E-Type, or the Jaguar XK-E for the North American market, was produced by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1974. Its combination of beauty, high performance and competitive pricing made the model an icon of the automotive world. The E-Type claimed a top speed of 241 mph, 0-60 mph (97 km/h) acceleration of less than 7 seconds, unitary construction, disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering and independent front and rear suspension set the car apart and caused industry-wide changes.
The E-Type was based on Jaguar's D-Type racing car, which had won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for three consecutive years from 1955.
People at Jaguar used what was a new design principle for the early 1960s, with a front subframe that carried the engine, front suspension and front body directly to the body shell with bolts. No ladder chassis was required, as was common at the time, and as such the first cars weighed just 1315 kg (2900 lb).

E-Type Jag 4.2-litre
The 4.2-litre engine produced the same power as the 3.8-litre (265 hp; 198 kW) and the same top speed (150 mph; 241 km/h), but increased torque 18% from 240 to 283 lb⋅ft (325 to 384 N⋅m). Acceleration remained almost the same and 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) was about 6.4 seconds for both engines, but maximum power was now achieved at 5,400 rpm instead of 5,500 rpm on the 3.8-litre.
Worldwide, a total of 4855 of the FHC 4.2 series 2, both left- and right-hand drive, were delivered by Jaguar.

It is rumoured that Enzo Ferrari, upon its release on 15 March 1961, called it "the most beautiful car ever made", however this statement has never been fully confirmed!

This Jaguar E-type 4.2 series 2 FHC (Fixed Head Coupe), Matching engine, body and chassis numbers, year of construction 1969, is a USA import and registered in the Netherlands in 1990. The original colour was British Racing Green, which was changed to the beautiful colour Silver Blue metallic after the recent bodywork restoration. The bodywork was made completely rust free and taut so that the lines and door seams fit perfectly, which can be seen in the attached photo report together with the total engine overhaul. Invoices of parts and restoration work worth around €31,500 are present in the folder.
The front and rear suspension supported by single Koni front shock absorbers and double Koni rear shock absorbers ensure that the E-type FHC sits like a "block" on the road.
The interior has been reupholstered and the black of the seats and dashboard with now KM counter combines perfectly with the Silver Blue metallic colour. The chrome is new and shows no signs of weathering. The E-type has 5 chrome 15-inch wire wheels (72) fitted with Michelin tyres 185x15 XVS. The spare wheel is located with the original jack under the luggage loading floor.
The technical, electrical and mechanical parts are in excellent order. The end result of what this powerful engine is capable of, such as the power curve and air/fuel ratio, can all be found in the accompanying test report carried out on the chassis dynamometer.
Operation, maintenance and service handbook available.
