The Testarossa. One of Ferrari's most iconic models. The luxury sports car was equipped with the 12-cylinder mid-engine. It was displayed at the Lido Nightclub on the Champs Elysées in Paris in Oct 1984 as the successor to the Berlinetta Boxer. Pininfarina put a different spin on its side-intake design which was seen as 'tradition breaking' at the time, but later transformed into one of the most recognised aspects of the Testarossa. The Ferrari Testarossa engine was the first time a Ferrari road car had a ''flat'' 12-cylinder configuration equipped with four valves per cylinder, but retained the same 4.9-litre capacity just like the 512 BBi engine.
Production ran from 1984 to 1991. After the Testarossa's production ended, 2 model revisions called the 512 TR and the F512 M emerged. These were produced from 1992 to 1996. A total of only 7177 of the original Testarossas were produced over the years, of which only 568 were produced in 1985.
The car on offer, which began its life in France, was delivered new in June 1985 by the official importer Charles Pozzi in the Paris district of ''Levallois''. The first owner traded it back to Pozzi after 3 years of enjoyment, Pozzi then sold it again to the 2nd and so far last owner. According to the service booklet, the first three services, performed every 10,000 km, were done by Ferrari in Lyon. Our collector got hold of the car ca.35 years ago and as a Ferrari enthusiast, he has taken good care of the car. The car now has just over 44,000 original kilometres on the odometer. The Testarossa has never been restored, but it has been professionally painted its original 'Rosso Corsa' colour for cosmetic reasons, and the original beige interior is well preserved. Among the various developments of the Testarossa, this is the rarest and most sought-after version. As is often the case, the earliest models are the most sought-after. This is certainly true of the 'Monospecchio' (a single wing mirror). As a pre-1988 example, this car also has the attractive and rare Monodado single-bolt 16-inch wheels, as opposed to the five-bolt wheels on later cars. These features make this Testarossa a very rare and sought-after specimen! Especially since it comes with its original service booklet, owner's manual and original tool kit with jack. Also, a major service with distribution change will be performed before sale at Ferrari dealer Kroymans, so you can get in and drive away immediately!
This original version, of which just under 400 were produced, is a great opportunity to enjoy the legend that is the Ferrari Testarossa.
