In totaal bouwde Porsche 134.689 exemplaren van de 924 en 924 Turbo en 16.282 stuks van de 924 S. Vanaf de marktintroductie had de 924 zes jaar garantie op doorroesten van binnenuit - een unicum in die tijd. In 1981 kreeg de 924 zelfs een verzinkte carrosserie. De facturen van door de jaren heen laten onderhoud zien van bijvoorbeeld een vervangen hoofdremcilinder, startmotor, remklauw revisie, een nieuwe einddemper en nog meer.
